Tbi to carb swap

302 posts · Joined 2010. #4 · May 4, 2011. For a carb swap you need a whole line of things. Intake, Carb, new distributer, wires, fuel pump, and a new cap and rotor. This all ran off the ecu. In fact, from what I've read you might as well strip the whole thing out of the truck. Thats what I plan on doing this summer.

Sep 18, 2010 · tbplus10. If your set on swapping to a carb go with a 4 bbl, it'll give you performance advantages and usually better mpg than a 2 bbl if you stay out of the throttle. Yes if you swap you'll need to change out the manifold they arent compatable. Personally I'd stick with the Holley TBI, that set-up is usually pretty good and trouble free. I aquired a really healthy tbi enigne, but I want to just install it and run it for now, so I figured I would pull the tbi intake and bolt on a 4 barrel intake and car setup, no deal though. the center bolts are not right for the heads.TB, dist., wiring harness including the underdash, computer, throttle cable, exhaust manifolds and y-pipe, as much of the fuel lines as you can, and of course the engine.
