It is kind of a requirement to run games on SSD in 2023. It is not a hard requirement yet, but if you don't want issues like this you have no other choice really.

My computer can run BG3 with certain settings turned down (low shadows, no god rays, no ambient occlusion, etc), but it stills eats up almost all of my memory to run the thing. The game will slow down, I'll have frequent frame drops, and when I load into an area, it takes ages for all the objects/terrain to render in. Ideally, with all modern games should be loaded onto an m.2 or SATA SSD as the older spinning disc Hard Drives will take a long time to load games. My BG3 is loaded on a SATA SSD and I am loaded up in about 20seconds (though I haven't put a stop watch on it).
