We have a 2011 Malibu with the 2.4 Eco Tec engine. At 70,000 miles, we had the check engine light come on with the car running poorly. Engine codes P0016 and P0017 were shown. At first, we thought the likely problem was 2 VVT solenoids (exhaust and intake), which are known to fail on these engines.
