Description: Antique Newhouse Slickpan bear trap, about 150 years old and approximately 35 inches long. This bear trap was made between 1858 and 1865, this is a very hard to find Newhouse trap. You will find hundreds/thousands of other Newhouse bear traps before you find one of these old slickpans (made prior to when they stamped the pans).

This is an original Community Newhouse No. 5 Bear Trap with offset teeth circa 1865-1888. The trap has a very rare blacksmith forged arm and standard arm that are both correctly stamped Newhouse. The company started production in 1845, Sewell Newhouse - A blacksmith within the community, learned to hand-forge animal traps better than anyone else of the time.
