38 weeks no dilation

I was checked at 30+3 and wasn't dilated or effaced at ALL. 31+1 I went into labor and had my daughter. My friend was 4cm dilated for a week before labor and 2cm for another month before that. I was checked yesterday at 36+1 weeks and was 2cm dilated 50% effaced (same as my 35 weeks check up). .
